The Commons is designed to collect only the limited information needed to operate your school’s phone-management program.
Your school may provide information such as your child’s name, school email, grade and student ID so their device can be connected to the correct school program.
The Commons app also generates limited operational information needed to make School Mode work and help schools understand whether it is functioning as expected. This includes whether required settings are enabled, when the device enters or leaves the school zone, regular connection check-ins, compliance status, and basic technical information such as app version, phone operating system and crash diagnostics.
While School Mode is active, The Commons may also measure how often the phone is unlocked and how long it remains unlocked outside The Commons app. This information is intended to help students understand their own phone habits and is not shown on the school dashboard. It does not tell us which apps the student is using.
The Commons does not collect personal content such as messages, photos, contacts, browsing or search history, app content, passwords, GPS coordinates or movement history.
