This alert is an Apple privacy feature, not something The Commons controls. iPhones display it whenever an app uses Apple’s location framework more than once in a short period of time.
How The Commons uses location:
The Commons uses Apple’s geofencing to sense when a student enters or leaves school grounds so School Mode can turn on automatically.
We do not track where students go, collect GPS routes, or store personal location history.
Privacy and security:
Location checks happen only on the device itself. Nothing is sent to The Commons or shared outside the phone.
The app cannot see browsing history, messages, photos, or personal content.
Pairing is done with a one-time QR code, so no student accounts or personal data are tied to the app.
We work with partners who meet strict security standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
In short: The “Multiple Location Accesses” alert comes from Apple’s privacy settings. The Commons only uses location to know when a student is at school — it never tracks or stores where they go.
