If location permissions aren’t automatically turning on after you scan the QR code in The Commons app, follow the steps below to enable them manually.

Step-by-Step: Enable Location Permissions on Android

  1. Open Settings on your child’s Android device.

  2. Scroll down and tap Apps (or Apps & Notifications, depending on your device).

  3. Find and tap on The Commons in your list of installed apps.

  4. Tap Permissions.

  5. Tap Location, then select Allow all the time (not just "While using the app").

  6. Go back and confirm that Location is listed under “Allowed.”

🛠 If you're not seeing the option to allow location all the time:

  1. Go to Settings > Location > App permissions.

  2. Find The Commons, then tap and select Allow all the time.

  3. Make sure Location Services are turned ON globally on the device.

🔁 Still not working?

  • Restart the phone

  • Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version from the Google Play Store
